Today, Deron and I took showers put on our cleanest clothes and rode the bus into Puerto Vallarta. We met Chris, Penney, and Aaron at Colegio Americano where they teach and Aaron attends pre-school. We took them out to their favorite restaurant in PV and they gave us a nice car tour of the city. On the way back to La Cruz we stopped at the finest Guayabera tailor in the region and got some surprises. Tomorrow, the entire crew is headed out for a sunrise surf session, a midday birthday party, and a sunset surf session. Early to rise, early to bed. Oh, and some quality tequila time thrown in there somewhere.

After we pulled ourselves out of the hammocks, db and i strolled around the town of la cruz, where we are staying. we walked around the harbor, down the beach, and stopped to have some pollo and cervezas. now that we've both finished "west of jesus", db is reading the biography of robert mitchum and i'm reading "three cups of tea" which i highly recommend.

Sayulita City Fair

Last night we went to sayulita, and they were having their annual city wide fair, complete with rodeo, live music, and cockfights. This shows the pre fight happenings, collecting bets, and weighing in.

I've been in Mexico since Friday afternoon. My good friend Deron Harris and I are on a surf trip this week. We have some mutual friends from college that have been living here for about 8 years, teaching school. They built this house themselves, and it sits on top of a mountain overlooking the ocean. It's pretty nice. We've been surfing a lot and enjoying ourselves. Last night we went to the circus that happens to be in town, ate some great tacos, and of course drank some good tequila. -thomas

February is a busy month at the Petillo house. I've got 5 photo shoots this month. I spend half of last week in LA at the Warner Town Hall meeting. I forgot how long that flight is, but it was good to lay eyes on California. It's hard to be that close to Mill Valley and not go. Jen's dog, Violet, passed away this week. I can't believe Grif and Vi are both gone. Mill Valley will never be the same.
I've got two shoots this week. One tomorrow in Nashville and then down to Birmingham for another on Wednesday. It'll be good to see my hometown and family even though it will be brief.
Lola's had a virus since I've been back from LA. She felt good enough to go feed the ducks and play at the park yesterday. We had fun taking pictures of our shadows.
