the 5 o'clock news

Lola continues to amaze me. I was home yesterday with a nasty sore throat. We were in the kitchen around 5:30 and she asked for a cracker. I handed it to her and she turned around and said "watch" "news." Who can resist an 18 month old wanting to watch the news. I put down the dishes I was washing and we curled up on the couch. This is something she does with Papa everyday. She's such a creature of routine. If you do it once and it's fun, you better be prepared to do it that way over and over again. Every night after I strip her down for her bath she does a naked lap of the house, squealing the whole way. I've got a cute video of that, but I'm not sure that meets Vimeo standards. Plus, Lola would be really mad at me when she got older. You'll just have to come visit and witness all the fun in person.

A-mazing

I was impressed, but just thought... it's the first letter in the alphabet, we say that one a lot. Then she picked up a little tile and said "Y"... sure enough, it was the Y. I was blown away. She can now identify the 8, Q & B in her bathtub letters, and recognizes her name LOLA. Tonight when I was getting her undressed for her bath I was taking off her pants and said "pants", she corrected me and said "jeans." I told her about jeans this morning as we were getting dressed. It's pretty cool and pretty scary... she's paying attention to everything even when we don't think it's soaking in.
