Papa is in Pigeon Forge this week. Lola seems a little out of sorts. I think she's confused by the lack of her normal routine. She's been having a big time with her sitters. Tuesday she went on a picnic with Katie. And yesterday she got to go to Tallulah's house and play for the morning. Apparently they both decided not to take their morning naps. I think we're about to say goodbye to the morning nap. Lola is quite a little ball of energy while she's awake. She's really taken to walking. You can tell she is quite proud of herself when she strolls across the room. We're looking forward to Papa's return tomorrow.

Lola got the all clear (well, almost clear) on her ears Friday, so the Petillos flew to Chicago Saturday morning. Lola did great on the hour and half flight. It's amazing how entertaining empty peanut wrappers can be. She fell asleep in the car 5 minutes from the Gulde's house. We got to enjoy lunch on the porch with Matt and Sally while all 3 kids were asleep. Only parents know what a miracle that is. Michael and Sara came out to Oak Park to enjoy the afternoon with us. Lola and Francis went for a swim (see the Gulde's flickr site for pictures), while Thomas and Matt grilled steaks. Yum.
The boys treated themselves to a round of golf on Sunday morning, and the girls went on a post-pregnancy shopping spree Sunday afternoon. Monday, the neighbors generously let us borrow their minivan and we all went to the zoo. 3 carseats and 4 adults filled the van to the brim. This was the first time we've been to the zoo that Lola really noticed the animals. We now know why Francis and Sally spend so much time there.
Horray for a weekend with best friends. Even though it was hard to get in a really deep conversation, just being with people we love and getting to know the kids apart from blogger was a special treat.
